Art Attacks is located on Campbell Avenue in Kapahulu, a short walk from Waikiki, in the heart of Honolulu and was founded by owner and artist Larry Foster. Officially established in October 1997, the frame shop caters to clients in need of custom framing, frame repairing and newly added graphic designing! We enjoy collaborating with local artists and businesses, creating one-of-a-kind pieces. Additionally, Art Attacks shares a small collection of art from local island artists that are for sale. Art Attacks will also cater to your shipping needs, whether it be domestic or international, ensuring that you can receive the art you love no matter where you are on the globe.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, Larry D. Foster moved to Hawaii in 1978. He began his foray into the art world in 1990 when he worked at the Wyland Galleries on Kauai and Oahu. In 1990, he worked as an art assistant at the Livingston Gallery in the Hilton Hawaiian Village. One day, while working in one of the galleries, Larry heard a woman gasp while she was gazing at a painting, so he went to ask if she was okay. Speechless, gesturing at the painting, Larry inquired if she was having an “Art Attack,” thus the name of his business was born.
Larry was also involved for a short time in the publishing business where he worked alongside local artists Rick Lawrence and Bob Abraham, releasing limited edition prints. In 2002, Larry began focusing more on his personal art and custom framing, leading him to enlist in mono print classes with George Woollard at Lilikona Art School. Larry continues his art practice by letting his inner child out to explore and play. His work is currently on display and for sale at Art Attacks.
In his free time, Larry likes to sail, meditate, mountain bike, and work on cars.
